The Community Television Association of Maine

The mission of CTAM is to advance democratic ideals by ensuring that people in Maine have access to electronic media. In order for democracy to flourish, people must be active participants in their government, educated to think critically, and free to express themselves.

Annual Plan

 

Board of Directors:

bulletFour Board meetings at a time and place to be determined by the Board of Directors in compliance with the Bylaws.
bulletHold an annual membership meeting once a year, separate from the annual conference.
bulletTo create and participate in committees to facilitate specific tasks/ duties.

Public Policy:

bulletContinue liaison with State and Federal legislators and PUC regarding legislation that may impact community television.
bulletParticipate in MMA Legislative Policy Committee meetings

Membership & Outreach

bulletMaximize the use of the web site for organizational communication.
bulletEncourage facilities to hold open house get-togethers to share and network.
bulletExpand the database to include facility information (possibly online database).
bulletIncrease outreach efforts to include school media centers, Town Managers, Libraries, and State Organizations such as MMA, PUC, etc.
bulletIncreased involvement with ACM-Northeast including possible membership & Board representation.    
bulletContinued membership in Alliance for Community Media
bulletFinalize and edit "What is CTAM?" tape.
bulletEstablish working relationship with other Community Media outlets to share info & promote public access to the media.

 

Meetings & Conferences

bulletHold one day Community Television Conference once a year in the autumn to include Media Literacy, Technical, and Public Policy/Franchising.
bulletCoordinate travel plans to Alliance Regional Meetings. 

 

Grant � Archive Project

bulletContinue work on archive project, including pursuing additional grant monies.
