"Documenting Community Life"

6th Annual

Alliance For Community Media Northeast Regional

Fall Conference & Video Festival

October 24 and 25, 2003 - Portland, Maine

Highlights will include an opening night reception and live cablecast featuring some of Maine's best musicians at the studio of the Community Television Network, Portland Mayor Jim Cloutier will make opening remarks, workshops sessions on four tracks (policy, producer, youth and documentary) throughout the day on Saturday, keynote speaker for the luncheon will be the former governor of Maine: Angus King, time to explore Portland's terrific attractions and restaurants and the Video Festival Awards Ceremony in the evening, followed by an "aprs festival soire" at the Top of the East bar.

Our conference will focus on the role of public, governmental and educational access stations in documenting community life. We are making a special effort to plan workshops that will be of interest to the smaller, more rural access stations in the northeast region that operate on largely volunteer labor.

We hope you will join us in Portland on October 24 and 25.

Tape 1 - "Giving Voice to the People" contains the Morning Workshop Session for Managers and is two hours in length. It is recommended for showing to small groups interested in community access rather than for cablecasting to the general public.

The cost of each tape is $20 for S-VHS format or $15 for VHS format. To order, contact Randy Visser by e-mail at [email protected] or by phone at 207-767-7615.
